How DeepDrop® Transforms Water Use in Agriculture

In Spain, many experiences have been shared with us by farmers and individuals. In the olive sector: from Andalusia to Catalonia, water savings have ranged from 50% to 80%.
In the vineyard sector, the average is 50% of water. In the fruit tree sector, there is a wide variety of savings depending on the type of crop and soil type, although we highlight a customer in Bolivia who achieved savings of 70% in his peach farm. In Murcia, on an organic tomato farm, water savings of 55% have been achieved. In Malaga, the reduction of the water footprint, in a controlled avocado farm where DeepDrop® has been installed for more than 5 years, has been 40%.

The first year with 1 dropper of 4 L/H. From the 2nd year on, with 2 drippers of 4 L/H. Watering times are:
- In winter – 10 min/day. Total 9 L/week.
- In spring/fall – 20 min/day. Total 18 L/week.
- In summer – 30 min/day. Total 28 L/week.
With surface drip irrigation, the tree usually receives between 70 and 150 L/week.

Olive grove in Seville
Our customer has 1,000 olive trees and has installed DeepDrop® in 333 olive trees.
Before installing the DeepDrop® system, he had installed 2 L/H per meter in-line drippers with which he watered 5 hours per day. Now, he waters 1 hour a day with a 4 L/H DeepDrop® device. These 333 olive trees have gone from watering 3,000 liters per day to 1,300 liters per day, saving 56.7% of water.

With a device of 2 L / h per plant. In April has watered 30 minutes every 2 days, with a consumption of 3L-4L per week.
At full fattening, irrigation is 30 minutes per day, divided into 3 irrigations of 10 minutes per day, with a consumption of 7 L per week.
DeepDrop® reduces humidity in the greenhouse and thus reduces pests.

Installation of the DeepDrop® system in 650 trees of 2 years of age, with a device of 8L/H per tree.
The irrigation season starts in April and ends in October.
It used to water twice a week for 4 hours, now it waters once a week for 2 hours.
It has gone from irrigating 160,000 liters per year to irrigating 100,000 liters per year with DeepDrop®.

Experimental fig tree field of Son Mut Nou (Mallorca)
There are 2,834 fig trees and 1,308 different varieties.
They have installed the DeepDrop® system on 600 fig trees. With 2 drippers of 8 L/H per fig tree, it irrigates 1 hour 3 days a week, with a weekly water consumption of 48L per tree.
Given the excellent results, they expanded the DeepDrop® irrigation system on the farm.
